Drugs & Alcohol

Drugs and alcohol seriously impair your social and cognitive abilities, especially if you start at a young age.

When you begin to use any of these substances, you may find that you crave them more and become dependent on them by using them in larger quantities and more frequently. Never take, accept, or buy drugs and alcohol

The facts.

What are drugs?

Drugs are chemicals that you infuse into your body to alter your mood and behavior.

There are always risks when taking drugs, even prescribed drugs, but illegal substances can be extremely dangerous. This is due to the fact that you will never know what is in them, and they may affect you differently each time you take them.

Risks

Some of the risks include addiction, harm to your physical and mental health, falling behind in school work, becoming involved in criminal activity, or overdosing.

The act of selling and distributing drugs is illegal, certain states have specific punishments based on the crime committed.

Selling drugs under state laws is referred as "possession with the intent to distribute."

Alcohol

Just little amounts of alcohol can have an impact on how you feel and how your body functions.

A Minimum Legal Drinking Age (MLDA) is 21 .

Drinking too much alcohol on a regular basis may put your body under more stress in the long run, increasing your chances of cancer, heart disease, stroke, live disease, and other health issues.

Using both drugs and alcohol on a daily basis causes the risk of addiction, which impairs many parts of your life including school, career, friendships, and family.
