Mental H2O is more than just a non-profit organization based in Hillsborough County, Florida; it’s a beacon of hope for our youth community. Founded by Idania Rodriguez and Garrett Livingston, our mission is deeply personal. As someone who struggled to cope with mental health challenges, Idania understands firsthand the challenges faced by today’s youth, especially in navigating the complexities of mental health within the school system where mental health support and guidance were often lacking.
It was Idania’s experience, coupled with a burning desire to ensure no child feels alone in their journey, that propelled Idania and Garrett to create Mental H2O. Driven by a relentless passion to make a difference, we believe in providing a safe and supportive space where young minds can thrive.
Our story isn’t just about overcoming personal struggles; it’s about turning adversity into advocacy, and pain into purpose. By sharing our experiences and standing together as a community, we’re breaking down barriers, destigmatizing mental health, and paving the way for a brighter, healthier future.
Students can sign up for a free account on mentalh2o.org and access a comprehensive hub of mental health tools. This ensures that students have the necessary tools to navigate and understand various mental health challenges.
Mental H2O shares impactful tools with various educational institutions. By collaborating with schools, we extend our reach and ensure that valuable mental health information reaches a broader audience. This collaborative effort establishes Mental H2O as a trusted resource for educators and students.
Mental H2O encourages student involvement through remote and on-site volunteering opportunities. Volunteers contribute to the organization’s mission while gaining valuable experience while spreading mental health awareness. This creates a ripple effect as more students become aware of Mental H2O.
Every day, we aspire to fulfill our mission: ‘To educate and inform our local youth community of healthy ways to cope with mental distress. We allow for one another to feel safe and connected by providing an outlet for those suffering in silence.
By informing and educating the community around us, we not only help kids and teens start “the talk” and allow one another to feel safe and connected, we also provide an outlet for kids and teens suffering in silence. The community will feel more positive; school atmospheres may feel safer and warmer. Our resources will be handed out and posted online so the teens and kids of Hillsborough County and across the USA can all make a change and help one another succeed in life.
It is your emotional well-being. Our mental health can affect all aspects of our lives, that is why it is so important to keep your mental health sharp and healthy! When our mental health is not doing so well, we find it harder to complete everyday tasks, talk to others, or function at school/workplace. There are many negative factors that can tarnish the state of your mental health, such as: Negative friendships, family issues, trauma, health problems, stress at school, and more.
