Managing School work & Time Management

Time management is an important skill to have in today's society, especially for students in school. Not only that, but time management is essential in one's personal life as well.

It can help with problem solving, planning, and decision making, as well as reducing stress and increasing productivity. Without time management, your work suffers, your stress rises, and you feel as if everything is collapsing around you.

It can not only be extremely difficult to deal with, but it can also be harmful to both your physical and mental health.

Why do students lack time management skills?

Distractions & Lack of balance

At our age, we spend far too much time on technology and socializing with friends, rather than focusing on more important aspects of our lives, such as school and work. The distractions steer us away from organizing and managing our time efficiently. A lot of the time, the distractions are rooted in procrastination.

Procrastination- the action of delaying or postponing something.

Stress

The idea of organizing your time for work and other things can be stressful for children and teenagers. It is critical to understand that this is not something to be afraid of; rather, it is something to encourage!

It will benefit you greatly in the long run, and you will be grateful to yourself for preparing these skills now for your future!

Not taught

This is a skill that we develop on our own; many children are not taught how to manage their time more efficiently, which causes them to miss deadlines, receive poor grades, and experience stress. If any of this applies to you, read on to learn how you can improve your time management skills now so you can balance and manage obvious priorities!

What to do:

Set your priorities straight

Realize that time with your friends can come after you complete what needs to be done. We all love to surf through the web, but it is not helpful to do so if you have things to get done and deadlines to meet.

Plan everything in moderation.

For example:

"I will hang out with my friend and make Tik Toks after I complete these assignments"

"I will allow myself to go on Instagram for half an hour after I finish up my project"

"I will facetime my friend after I finish the last two chapters I have to read for homework"

Some of the best time management tips include:

- Making a to-do list

- Planning ahead (Activities, deadlines, upcoming assignments)

- Using the "calendar" app on your phone

- Writing out things you need to do (a planner or notebook is an amazing tool!)

- Utilizing the "notes" app on your phone to plan out tasks.

- Being flexible with your schedule, allowing time for you to do things

Keep trying. keep doing.

Keep up the good work, we are so proud of you!
