Identifying your feelings

Are you feeling "lost" or confused during a situation? Are you not sure how to feel?

It is difficult for us to understand our emotions, they can be difficult to comprehend. Before we can analyze our feelings, we must understand the reasons we feel lost in our emotions. Take a look below to see some of the reasons why this happens.

Why this happens.

Connection

Our thought process

It is hard for some of us to identify what we are feeling because we all have a different way of communication. Some people receive messages differently, we all have a unique way of thinking!

Overwhelmed

Difficult circumstances

The situation can be overwhelming, and we have no idea where to start. We often feel like an outcast when this occurs.

How to help

Developing good self-reflection skills

Whatever the reason may be, here is how you can help yourself battle against this. We will teach you how to identify what you are feeling in a smart and mature manner!

What to do:

Self-Assessment

1. First identify the situation you were or are currently in.

Focus on the facts, rather than how you felt first!

2. Focus on your feelings now, is what you're feelings good, or bad?

- How does your body feel? Is your heart beating a little faster? Do you feel it in your chest?

3. This step may be hard but take a step back for a second. View the situation as a whole.

Find out when did you start to feel some type of way.

Friendly Reminder

For example, did something someone say or do make you feel a certain way?

- These steps do involve effort, do not give up. If you are still trying and you cannot detect your feelings, do not worry! This is normal.

It is important to remember that some of us approach our feelings differently.

For those of us who have been conditioned to suppress our emotions, it can be hard to try to find out what we are feeling.

It can be a little confusing, talking it out with a close friend or family member is helpful.
