Social Media

Are you feeling "lost" or confused during a situation? Are you not sure how to feel?

We live in a digital age. Some of us have found it difficult to accept this, but technology is all around us.

We teenagers are so engrossed in the new trends that apps like Tik Tok and Instagram provide. We become eager to follow, copy, mimic, or whatever you want to call it.

We practically live on social media, and it's so easy for fights or drama to break out. Social media is a breeding ground for cyberbullying and a source of conflict.

We all need a break from social media every now and then. Drama erupts on social media, and the media is full of unrealistic beauty standards and unwanted content. This distracts us from our school work, our ability to complete everyday tasks, and brings our mood down drastically.

Taking a break from social media allows for you to stay away from unnecessary drama, negative content, and allows for you to focus on what is important.

For those who are having difficulty taking a social media break

Here are the steps you must take in order to take a successful social media break.

(mehaffeymoments.com)

1. Decide on a date and time for the break, as well as how long it will last.

2. Log out of all social media platforms on all devices.

3. Inform close family and friends that you will be taking a break.

4. Check in with yourself during your break.

5. Set time limits for how long you can spend on social media during the day.

6. Unfollow any accounts that make you feel weaker compared or envious of others. Follow accounts that inspire you or make your life better!

Ways to cope:

Social media is not real life, it is important to limit yourself from your favorited platforms from time to time.

Listen to music

Listening to your favorite music can help put you at ease!

Create a playlist of your favorite songs and listen to the music!

Watch a good show

This serves as a distractor from your negative feelings and can help you feel better!

Write something

You can write a letter to your future self, a friend, a family member, or a teacher!

Meditate

Find a quiet area and practice deep breathing, let go of your stressors.

Keep up the good work, we are so proud of you!
